Cmolanes on Economizers

Mr.John:

I am sure there are several other considerations... I would think first on the present temperature of combustion gases and the fuel used. An economizer will reduce this stack temperature due to the heat exchange with the feed water. If the fuel contains sulfur, I would check that the metal walls temperature will remain above say 155C to avoid sulphuric acid from attacking the steel. A reference value for the flue gas temperature to avoid acid attack is around 220 C

Another consideration is the need to keep the economizer tubes on the gas side clean. I am thinking on conventionally designed economizers with finned tubes. Normally steam soot-blowers are used, but if this source is not available, I would then consider pressurized water for the purpose, but I am not sure whether this method is used, it is just my imagination being put to work.

VWO, BMCR, TMCR, Full Load and Base Load
By: Jim Watts [764]

MCR is maximum continuous rating.

BMCR is the Boiler MCR, TMCR is the turbine MCR

VWO is valves wide open and at normal pressure allows the turbine to exceed TMCR by 5-10 percent

Full load is not fixed but means the turbine has reached it intended maximum

Base Load is also a flexible number and means the turbine will not be operated below that figure. It is mostly used in power system scheduling where the cheapest plants run fully loaded and are referred to as base load plants. O....   Read All
