asme code,nbic, welding questions.What are locked up stresses in a weld?examples.What causes them..How can a blister be repaired on a boiler plate? - Re: help,please,welding questions - Thursday, July 29, 2010 - N.Ramani [965]
Locked up stresses are stresses generated due to welding of dissimilar materials having different structures whose behaviour in melting and cooling are different. Aso these are developed if the weld is cooled to fast, specially when the thickness is high. This creats differential thermal contraction and hence stresses.
