I am looking for case studies of Waste Heat Generation Plant from CEMENT PLANT

Friday, April 15, 2011   By: Phillip [1065] 3 Stars
I am looking for case studies of Waste Heat Generation Plant from CEMENT PLANT. Our company thinks about installing Steam turbine using steam produced from Pre-Heater and AQC boilers in Kilns. Steam turbines may be one or two and Pre-Heater and AQC boilers may be 10 to 12 since we have several Kilns. I wish to know if I can see some case studies success or fail and what we should technically and economically consider. If there is any one who knows about it or involved in this project, I would appreciate it if I could recieve some information. Thank you!

I am not aware of case studies in this regard. But I can make a fair guess that every HRSG which was retrofitted or otherwise will have some basic calculations. Even if you have You may find wide variations between project which may not suit your specific requirements to decide . I feel that you should first find out the following before you go ahead further. The quantum of heat being wasted.and the equivalent of KW or MW considering efficiency. Then depending up on the intensity of the heat to what level steam can be generated with suitability of the parameters for running a turbine. Once this is Technically viable think about cost economics and implementation.

Hi. I would be glad to help.
We are quite familiar with this as we are heat recovery project developers/specialists.
The question Id need to ask is: what are you hoping to do? Are you looking to generate power? If so, from which of your heat sources?
The preheat tower is an excellent heat source and typically quite hot, though very laden with dust.
The clinker cooler is another excellent heat source, though typically far cooler than the preheat tower.
These are good temperatures for heat recovery, though for power generation, Id suggest using an organic Rankine cycle system, as it can be quite efficient in these relatively lower temperature ranges.
I would be happy to provide you with some representative examples. Please feel free to contact me directly.

High Sulfite Residual
By: Ross. [390]

First, I want to say that large amounts of Sodium Sulfite NaSO3 becomes a contaminate because it will produce foaming and other problems, but foaming is the primary problem.

Your 500-psi Water Tube Boiler is seems to have reasonable level of residual Sodium Sulfite NaSO3 remaining in the boiler water. Nice pH too.

Your 300-psi Waste Heat Recovery Boiler has twice what I would expect for Sodium Sulfite NaSO3 at ranging 80-ppm to 100-ppm. pH is good so you are getting a good yield.
