Because the boiler is supercritical, there is no drum and no circulation ratio to consider.
The flowrate in the water walls is therefore 2900 T/h.
To find the velocity you need to know the density of the water to convert to volume per hour and the tube area to allow you to find the volume per meter. You can then work out the meters per second required to pass the flow.

Good answer But if you are starting the design to size the tubes you have to start wiht a velocity. Cann you halp on this. Aleternately I suggest having a look into an existing boiler and work as suggested.

Just an idea...

In water pipes -mayhaps not actually so in supercrtitical boilers, I have absolutely no experience with them-, velocities are round 2,5 - 3,5 m/sec in order nor to increase unduly the pressure drop due to viscosity. This stands for pipes or tubes 2 up to 4 in diameter, which I think may be usual figures. For steam as for other gases, 15 up to 30 m/sec are acceptable, too high means too much pressure drop, too low means low pressure drop but increased diameter, or more tubes in parallel to pass a certain mass-flow, and increased cost as a result. Of course, as Mr. Watts suggested, density or its inverse, specific volume, must be known to evaluate mass flow rates.

Good luck

superheated steam ideal gas
By: cmolanes@itba.edu.ar [50]

Mr. Pradeep:

Steam behaves well as an ideal gas if not too close to the saturation line if you place yourself on a Mollier chart, when the temperature and enthalpy lines coincide and are straight, horizontal lines, then it behaves as ideal, and this you can easily see on the chart.

I would rely though most on the steam values given by the chart or steam tables, because they are confident independently of the region , e.g. they stand both for ideal and real gas, but the ideal gas equation ....   Read All
