Air intake filters disposal.

Friday, March 16, 2018   By: Gerardo. [2248] 0 Stars
Hi everyone,

As far as I know, GT air intake filters must be replaced when they get dirty and delta P between the different stages drops to a certain level. Depending on the GT air intake filter house could be from different sizes and may contain different stages and number of filters.

Anyway, my question is if any of you know any way of disposing the used filters apart from carrying it by an approved company. Do you have any idea if these type of filters couldb be reused for any other purpose rather than just throwing it away? I know the main components are paper, plastic, metal, etc. In the power plant I worked for they just called some trucks to take them to a residue plant. And Ive always thought that they could be re-used for other purposes, Im thinking for example, acoustic insonorization, building sustainable houses, etc.

I drop these ideas in here and let me know if youve heard anything similar or what do companies do with their used filters according to your expierence.

Thanks a lot.

Hi There!

My experience is most GT compressor needs a V-Bank which is a Fine Filter, and Panel Filter which is a course filter, and these are discarded to the landfill.

Of course both are known as non wovens and made on a specialty paper machine. There is nothing toxic in them after they are over used.

The pocket type filtering is a fabric bag filter. These are cleanable.

The only ones I know about that are recycled are the cartridge type and they are reused at half the price of a new one.

As to your question, if there is no recycling program for HVAC panel filters then no one has come up with a method as of yet. Since HVAC filters are nearly the same fibers.

High Sulfite Residual
By: Ross. [390]

First, I want to say that large amounts of Sodium Sulfite NaSO3 becomes a contaminate because it will produce foaming and other problems, but foaming is the primary problem.

Your 500-psi Water Tube Boiler is seems to have reasonable level of residual Sodium Sulfite NaSO3 remaining in the boiler water. Nice pH too.

Your 300-psi Waste Heat Recovery Boiler has twice what I would expect for Sodium Sulfite NaSO3 at ranging 80-ppm to 100-ppm. pH is good so you are getting a good yield.
